Young Wilhelm followed him two years later, and after finishing school, he took up an apprenticeship as a mechanic for Siemens which he didn't finish. In order to prepare him for his first sound film "Melodie des Herzens", Ufa had Willy Fritsch take singing lessons.

They followed "Liebeswalzer" with a string of successful musical comedies, including "Einbrecher", the box-office hit "Die drei von der Tankstelle", "Der Kongress tanzt" and "Ein blonder Traum".
